I'm just a girl on pilot season trying out
A role I've wanted for a long while, so please disregard
My self-tape's a disaster at best, now where do I start?
Stage fright to a fault
When the dust settles on your heart
I'd like to audition for the leading part
When the smoke clears, I'll be here
Just give me the callback, I'm ready to read
I'll fill your favorite scene, win all the awards
'Cause I'm auditioning and the camera loves me
Lights, camera, action on this star-studded, strange stage
I'll let you and your screen play as long as you don't yell "cut"
I'm ready for my close-up, if you please just set me up
With your best backdrop
My mise en scène is flawless, don't you know I'm quite adored?
I'll win you over in 35mm 4K-restored
Can't wait to break the third wall, crossfade into rotoscope
(Cinéma vérité) motor
When the dust settles on your heart
I'd like to audition for the leading part
When the smoke clears, I'll be here
Just give me the callback, I'm ready to read
I'll fill your favorite scene, win all the awards
I'll never break character, yeah, I'll go far
When the curtain falls, I'll give it my all
Whatever you like, I'll let you watch
Come rain or shine, I'll go the whole nine yards
I'll be the one on your couch, see, let me be your star
Star, star
Let me be your star
Star, star
